We have looked at oil stocks such as Chevron and Exxon Mobil. They are a proxy to the oil price. Now we will take a look at gold. If you do not want to buy or sell physical gold, you can look into gold mining companies or Gold ETFs. An example will be the SPDR Gold Trust. You can trade it as you would a stock on an exchange.

The SPDR Gold Trust has just penetrated below the 200 SMA line. Looks like the gold rush has slowed down for now. Time to short gold...

People have asked me where I got my historical stock charts and quotes from. I got them from many sources. Among the free ones will be Google Finance and Yahoo Finance. They have the prices as well as information on stock splits and dividends. These datas can be imported into Ninjatrader for free and other charting softwares that you might use.

I am also using some paid data services but for those of you who want to save costs, the free ones will be just as good.

Manchester United IPO - SGX

Manchester United (a football club or depending where you stay, soccer club) was considering to do an IPO either in Singapore or Hong Kong and decided to with Singapore. A company with a lot of debt no doubt. It seems the owners want this IPO to help them with their cashflow. One thing they have is the brand name and they hope to tap the investors in Asia as this is where their fan base is growing. So if they get the approval from SGX, will it be a good buy and participate in the IPO? I don't know. I will wait 200 days after the first trading day of the stock to decide. We shall see whether there is strength to this stock.
